ESF has been included in AASHE’s 2016 Sustainable Campus Index. “The 2016 Sustainable Campus Index (SCI) recognizes top-performing colleges and universities in 17
distinct aspects of sustainability, as measured by the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS).” ESF is recognized as a top performer in the research credit category  along with Colorado State University and Stanford University among others. ESF was ranked #8 on the list of Overall Top Performers in the doctoral/research institutions category, with a STARS Gold rating and score of 73.0. ESF received special recognition  in the category of Diversity and affordability for the announcement of recognition for the for the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
